When Did You Begin Dreaming of Diving?

You're Never Too Young to Learn--and Dream

Do you remember when you caught the diving bug? Many divers recall Sea Hunt or Jacques Cousteau on TV--or even James Bond in Thunderball.  All of us at Adventure Sports are happy to share the fun and joy of diving--with kids of all ages.

This week, we enjoyed speaking to two groups of wonderfully curious kids at Honey Tree Academy in Wichita.  They were great listeners and had super questions.

Your dive buddies at Adventure Sports are always happy to talk diving. So, if your school, church, or service group would like a program about SCUBA diving, give us a call!

Lions and Tigers and Ciguatera? Oh, My!

A much-publicized plan to use the dinner plate to combat the invasive Lionfish in the Caribbean may be on hold.  By many accounts, the Lionfish yields delicious filets.  But now, new evidence suggests that the flesh of the Lionfish can, in fact, harbor a potentially dangerous neurotoxin.  The toxin can cause ciguatera, a type of food poisoning.

Here is the late-breaking news from MSNBC.

This could be a serious setback to efforts to control the Lionfish.  They are truly spectacular fish.  But they have a voracious appetite and are devastating fish populations on Caribbean reefs where they have no natural predators of their own.
